one of my amusements in Iraq was talking to my moslim interpreters about Christianity. They had all heard of it. But their oral traditions had some really wacky things to say about it.

I was referring to too much at one time.
The (scanned)COLB that was released on the Internet (only) was immediately called into question as a graphical, photoshopped forgery. ie, "not genuine". I am not familiar enough with it to know myself, but have to trust others who are or claim to be.
(for our common, familiar purposes, both VD and KD pointed out the issues).
Even many proponents of BHO says the COLB is a scanned/computer generated fraud with obvious "pixel" forgery going on. Hell, no one in the Admin even claimed how it got into cyberspace for some time.
Do you believe it is a doctored fake? Obviously, if it is, you follow all the POSSIBLE implications of that (and there are many).
As for the 2 Newspapers, they simply report what the Hawaii Govt reports to them right? Do they factcheck claims of Birth for everyone that submits such claims? Doesn't the information come from the state Govt?
Again, we're back to Govt and whether or not it's "workers", and how they might be "influenced", to put it as mildly as I can.

I am still not sure where he was born. In many ways it simply does not matter, but it is amusing and sickening how we are all supposed to forget how he portrayed himself not too long ago. Journalists wore themselves out looking for "nigger rock", gays mistreated by Romney, and the Ron Paul newsletters, but they cannot be bothered to: look at how Obama portrayed himself, find out whether he attended Black Panther rallies, talk about Reverend Wright's teachings, etc. I wish the Jejune-O-Lists would just report news instead of trying to indoctrinate people.

I'm afraid I'm not following you here, bw. My take is (and has always been) that the newspaper announcement that he was born in Hawaii has more heft than any evidence I've seen from elsewhere. Since I start with the assumption that he was born in Hawaii, the rumor of his overseas birth is easy to explain: Obama made it up because he thought it in his short-term advantage to do so.

I have seen very few other explanations that explain the rise of both of Obama's origins stories so elegantly.
