Behold the Man

Pilate took Jesus and scourged him. His soldiers platted a crown of thorns and put it on Jesus's head. They also dressed him in a purple robe. And the soldiers said, "Hail, King of the Jews!" and struck him with their fists.

Then Pilate went out again and said to the crowd, "Look, I bring him to you so that you might know that I find no fault in him." Then Jesus came forward wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe. And Pilate said to the crowd, "Behold the man!"
John 19:1-5

Judge Napolitano wrote an article the other day pointing out that the State killed Christ. While technically true, it worked the same way as it does today. Rome actually wished to release him, finding no fault, but caved to the pressure of a certain special interest group - and what an interesting and ironic group it was.

On a completely separate note, was there a "We found the tomb of Jesus" story this year?

If there was, I must have missed it. Sad, because it's actually one of my favorite Easter time traditions.
