OT: Are you ok? Just wondering since it's unlike you to go this long without posting...
Yup, all is well... I'm just full-on into my thesis at the moment* and had to make some sacrifices. The blog is one of them.
Perhaps it will return someday (which is why I have not deleted it), but only should something arise that I haven't already noised to death. Since I have literally no interest in an election between Mitt Romney and Barack Obama, it will most likely not be political in any way...

At the present rate, I'll have only 53 more improperly-formatted footnotes to wrestle with at 4am on graduation day.
Improperly formatted? For shame, El B. Sit back with that nice coat of snow on the ground (by local standards) and format a few of those.

I'm actually working on the story of Good Hater's first* arrest, the one that resulted in him being elected captain of John Brown junior's old company. Footnotes have to wait, I'm afraid. I'm afraid because they are piling up and I know what's going to happen...
* His second arrest, arising from a fistfight/gunfight with Doc Jennison's brother, ended up with him being tossed in Fort Scott's jail until he lawyered his way out of it. That story, which is far more interesting, will not make the cut, alas.

Too bad the second arrest didn't make the cut. I suppose you could always go for the Ph.D. and use it for that.....
I'm probably just going to write the book, in all likelihood.* PhD is all historiography, which I'm not all that fond of.
But I did include in the last 7 pages of the thesis an historiography of the death of Quantrill's successor, George Todd. Not only do I demonstrate that most modern accounts of his death are wrong, I proved Good Hater killed him. Win!
*I mean, it's more than half done at this point.
I didn't ever see if you responded to my LaTex comment. It's the poop for publishing - for other than little project reports it's all we use (and the little project reports are just because I don't fully understand it yet).
If it seems intimidating, I can get a real smart dude (and me) to Ft. Scott to teach you in an afternoon.
Also, if you need formatting, the HOUSEWIFE is very good at computer stuff - I hear she trades for mead. I believe you two are on this new facebook crap.
