Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell moved Tuesday to head off a potentially disastrous U.S. default by offering President Obama new authority to raise the federal debt limit without cutting government spending...That says everything that needs to be said. There's plenty more 'mechanism' to it, but the bottom line is that McConnell has just offered to give Obama unilateral authority to increase the national debt three times, so long as the GOP would be able to cast a meaningless vote saying they didn't like it*.
As Mad Dog Tannen said, what a gutless yellow turd.
But the worst part is not McConnell so much as it is a senate GOP that insists on electing gutless yellow turds like McConnell to leadership roles. Leadership, in this case, meaning "You do what you like and I'll stand on the sidelines and bitch about it."
* Why the hell do we have a legislative branch anyway? Let's just have the President rule by fiat and have Congress pass meaningless resolutions about everything. Oh, wait.

It's not that the Repubs are gutless yellow turds*, it's that they have no more commitmment to fiscal responsibility than Dems do. If they actually limit their debt, they wouldn't have any goodies to hand out when it was their turn to sit in the big chair.

Yes, it's distressing that they fell for the "Social Security checks may not be sent in the coming year..." ploy. What they don't realize is that the real people don't care about that so much as we care if the free spending stops. I say we start by cutting the Obama increases and the entire staff of the First Witch and her children.
