Revenge of the Moderates

Today was (primary) election Day in Kansas, and though I didn't get to vote - Libertarians don't have primaries, we barely have candidates - I watched with some interest the RINO/conservative matches, especially on the school board. To quote a South Park-ism, I haven't seen a beating this bad since Rodney King...

The conservative board spit in the face of all things moderate by voting to downplay evolution and sex ed. As a result, just like 6 years ago, a concerted moderate effort has apparently run them out. Mainstream Coalition endorsed candidates get italics, conservatives get bold.

Unofficial Results as of 11:30:

Dist 1: Janet Waugh (D) 63%
Dist 3: John Bacon (R) 49% (3-way race)
Dist 5: Sally Cauble (R) 54%
Dist 7: Ken Willard (R) 54%
Dist 9: Jana Shaver (R) 58%

Districts 5 and 9 are net pickups for the moderates (Cauble defeated incumbent conservative Connie Morris, Shaver defeated the son-in-law of incumbent conservative Iris Van Meter) so it looks like a moderate 6-4 win. For those who care, Darwin is coming back to Kansas. Survival of the fittest, baby.
